Their first encounter was a 1990 blind date set up by their hairdresser. Bowie being one of the most influential, and innovative, musicians of our time who had a string of top 10 hits and a serious acting career. Iman is a strikingly beautiful supermodel who had transitioned from the magazine to the silver screen and the idea they were finding it difficult to meet people is just plain depressing for the rest of us mortals.

Luckily for them their meeting was love at first sight, and Bowie reportedly fell head over heels in love with Somali-born model Iman. She admitted in an online chat, “It was nerve wracking at the beginning, the first five minutes, but we got along very famously and we have been together since then.”

What did they see in each other?
The pair seem to share a wacky off-the-wall sense of humor. Iman even said she married Bowie because “he`s just plain silly”. In a 2003 interview Bowie said about the relationship, “I don`t have that sense of loneliness that I had before, which was very, very strong. It became a subtext for a lot of things I wrote.”

Was it true love?
It seems to be the case. Iman`s most recent show of love was forcing David onto a strict diet after he suffered a heart attack in 2004. For David marriage the second time around has changed him for the better, as he explained: “I like where I’m at and I’m very comfortable. I like being who I am, who I’m with and what I’m doing. I seem to have found an equilibrium in my life.” Gotta love it. True love is so very hard to find.
